Results of Popularity Contest

October 29th, 2006 by Kemar

Well I didn’t win it, but I knew that before the results were official. But it is sad how popular people are chosen for positions as opposed to people who can actually fulfill the duties. But so is life.

I have been really busy with school these last few weeks, whether it is doing Chemistry labs, writing up labs for Physics or doing French homework, I am just caught up these days. Well this is the first time in a ling time that I can truthfully say that I have actually been doing work, especially homework.

I updated to the new Firefox, Firefox 2.0 and I love it. Seeing as it is Halloween season I found it appropriate to get myself a Halloween theme for Firefox and it looks great.

I Entered a Popularity Contest

October 11th, 2006 by Kemar

Yay!! for me, I entered a popularity contest today.

Well it is not a popularity contest in the actually definition of the word, but I strongly considered it as one. Well I was nominated for the position of House Captain today in my house in my school. And in my opinion when it comes to the elections of House Officers it is a pure popularity contest, even student council members are elected in a better way. With house officers you don’t get to campaign or anything, you just come in nominate persons, and vote for them, the nominees don’t even get to make a speech on why they should be chosen, so when it boils down to it, it is only your friends or people who have seen you in a similar role that will vote for you. And to me it is just not fair.

I am currently running against two females, one of who has a much better chance at winning as she is ‘popular’ and I am not. Honestly being popular does not make you a better leader. As I know that I can help my house to win in what ever we do, I am a good leader.

When I was nominated and I was asked to stand so that they could see who I am, I heard comments like “No, not he”, “I don’t like him” and other things like that. Mainly coming from the junior school, who were promptly shut up by the House Mistress. But for some reason I still think that I have a fair chance, I may get it, and if not I may get Deputy. I would rather House Captain than Deputy. But which ever I get, even if it is none at all I will still do my best to take my house forward.

On to a more funnier and lighter things for the day, After this I was off for the two lessons of the day, which meant that I had office duty and had to hand out late slips to the kids that for some reason cannot get to school early. So I handed out like 5 of them and then realise that I never wrote the time that the came to school in the book, it was only on the late slip. hahaha, I found it fun.

Then I had English, fun ohh fun. I just love how my teacher put people out of the class, she usually says “[Student’s Name] Depart” or “I invite you to Depart”, it never fails to put a smile on my face.

School finished early today by one hour, as the rain was falling and there was a threat of flooding, and my school floods very easily.

So that was the highlights of my day.

Running Cross country or should I say Cross Town

October 6th, 2006 by Kemar

Well before I get to that part I’ll start with the beginning of my day.

Okay we had general assembly as we do have every Monday and Fridays, boring as usual so boring that I really can’t remember what happened… Okay I am boring you, so I’ll fast forward to like a couple of minutes later. Me being a Returning 5th, we have to do Service Commitment, so mine is to supervise  Study Hour after school, so I volunteered Wednesdays after school, so that I will get home late those three days on a stretch, Science and Tech Club on Mondays, and Boy’s Club on Tuesday and now Study Hour on Wednesday. Not that I mind, so I am supervising it with a Good female friend of mines and this other guys, we were friend since we first came to that school. SO I’ll have fun in Study Hour.

So lets get to my “Cross Town” run. Well every year in PE we all have to do a cross country. So the PE teacher tells us the route and says it is shorter than the last one, when he tells us I am like “And What was the longer route”. Well me and three other guys decide that we weren’t in for running it period, so we walked most of it. So we got to a part where we were going to cut through, and behold a plum tree, so we spend a few minutes getting the plums down and they we huge and taste really great. So we got on with our ‘Cross Town’ ‘run’ and we came to a pipe so we deiced to wet our feet as we decided not to wear shoes, and may I say that road was really hot.

So we were walking through town talking a bunch of crap. Well we cheated as none of us had intentions of running to start with. The way we did it, we cut the course in like three parts and only did 1/3 of the course. So if it was 6Km we did about 2KM. We took so many short cuts that it wasn’t funny. But the aim was not to get back to the school before the others who were faster than we were, hence why we walked. And we cut through a place that was very close to the school, we didn’t realise that we would have been so close. HAhaha, well we ran the the last 200m so that we would have the sweat from running to make the Teachers think we did something.

So when we get back, the others asked us where we cut through, I did not answer them as I have no intentions of telling them. They wanted to know because we came back just after them. They told us that they decided to stop in the pet store and play games. What the hell, WOW!! We did crap on that course. But the plums were the best.

Back at School

October 5th, 2006 by Kemar

Well I have started school, and I will say that it is not as fun as I thought it would have been. Teachers think that because you have returned to school and been given a second chance there that they can tell you what ever they please and expect you to just stand up there and take it and say nothing. They think so, but they are really wrong, my mouth has been known to not have a cover on it, and I have been known throughout my school for telling teachers how I felt about them without really caring how the felt afterwards.

Now that I have returned to school I am required to give at least four hours of Service to the school each week. I have no problem with it, I have been assigned to supervise Study hour twice a week, and I have been assigned as a mentor to two kids in the junior school.

School is somewhat fun, we have this guard that walks around the school for the entire day look for kids who are skipping classes and stuff like that, and if they don’t have a pass well they get write up and eventually in a lot of trouble.  He also writes up kids who do not wear the  school uniform correctly,  for chewing gum,  and walking on the grass, which  has earned him the nick name “Grass patrol”. Well he doesn’t really do anything to the Senior kids, he is cool with us and stuff, he may only do us something if we are doing a bunch of crap and going over board with it.

The best thing about this year is that I have what we call Free lessons, or Non-Contact Lessons, where we don’t have any class and we can do stuff. It allows me to do my homework and have less to do at home. And these lessons give me time to rest. But at times they can be very boring.

But most of the kids in my classes just have something against me for no reason at all. And it hurts me at times, but I get over it. I realise something about people, they will only treat you nicely when they want something done, which works with some people but unfortunately I am not one of those people, I believe that you should always treat me a certain way, whether it be good or bad just be consistent with it.

Ohh well just have to get through this year.
